Boniface has been a regular for Leverkusen since the start of the season before an injury to the Nigerian striker in November allowed Schick to return to the starting line-up and the Czech forward has not let that opportunity slip away with his impressive displays, with Boniface now relegate to the bench even after returning to fitness.
Although Alonso briefly played he alongside Schick in the 3-2 DFB-Pokal win over Cologne, the Spaniard has revealed he could use the two forwards together more often in the future.
‘They don’t have the same profile, they can help each other, that’s a good option,’ Alonso said of sending he to play alongside Schick. ‘It’s good for the team, we’ll have to see.’
